Zach Davies tossed six shutout innings and Anthony Rizzo homered and drove in four runs as the Chicago Cubs routed the host San Diego Padres 7-1 on Tuesday.
Willson Contreras and Patrick Wisdom also went deep for Chicago.
Davies (3-3) yielded just one hit and two walks while striking out four. Davies, who pitched for the Padres in 2020, owns a 2.16 ERA since posting a 9.47 ERA in April.
The Cubs led just 1-0 before exploding for four runs in the sixth -- the final two coming on Wisdom's eighth homer in 15 games since being promoted from the minors on May 25.
Chicago has hit at least one homer in each of its past nine games, belting 18 long balls in that span.
The Padres' only hit off Davies was Fernando Tatis Jr.'s two-out single in the fourth.
Contreras' fourth-inning solo homer to left off a slider was the only hit San Diego's Dinelson Lamet allowed through five innings.
Lamet saw his success quickly expire in the sixth, during which he was charged with three runs without retiring a hitter.
Joc Pederson and Kris Bryant opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Rizzo then hit a liner to right-center that skipped past center fielder Jurickson Profar for a two-run double.
Miguel Diaz replaced Lamet, retired Contreras on a ground out then gave up the two-run homer to Wisdom.
Lamet wound up allowing four runs on four hits and a walk in five-plus innings, his longest outing of the season. He struck out a season-high-tying six.
Pederson doubled with one out in the seventh and scored on Rizzo's opposite-field, two-out homer off Nabil Crismatt.
After managing only two hits through the first eight innings, the Padres finally got on the board in the bottom of the ninth. Reliever Alec Mills walked the first two hitters he faced ahead of a one-out, RBI double by Ha-Seong Kim. Mills struck out Eric Hosmer and Wil Myers to end the game.
