Boca Raton, FL - August 19, 2022 - Kanner & Pintaluga's 2022 Summer Associate Program recently concluded following an annual mock trial which was held on Thursday, August 4 in the Firm's state-of-the-art courtroom.
The Firm's immersive 12-week program is not a typical summer program. It is designed to provide law students an authentic law firm experience through mentorship and exposure to the Firm's multiple practice areas with the goal of giving each Summer Associate transferable tools for the future as practicing attorneys combined with a realistic mock trial as a capstone event. This year, the rising 2L and 3L students had the privilege of having the Honorable Ilona M. Holmes (Ret.) preside over the trial.
"I've been a member of the Bar for almost 40 years (I was a judge for almost 24 years of that time) and have judged close to 100 mock trials. Sometimes I felt that the participants were just going through the motions either for a grade or to put the event on their resumes. However, this is the first time that I was really truly impressed with the presentations and participation," said Judge Holmes. "I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the students were a mix of 2L and 3Ls. I couldn't tell the difference."
Kanner & Pintaluga, with its trial-ready philosophy, takes great pride in selecting exceptional summer clerks who may one day join the Firm as practicing attorneys.
"Unlike other firms, we expect our young attorneys to take ownership of their cases from inception to trial and our investment in them starts during the Summer Associate Program," said Howard Kanner, Principal and Firm Co-Founder.
This year's Program consisted of 27 law students representing various law schools in Florida - Nova Southeastern University, University of Miami, St. Thomas University Stetson University, Barry University, Florida A&M University, University of Florida - as well as some outside the state - Mississippi College, University of Toledo, Liberty University, and Pennsylvania State University.
