BANGKOK, Thailand: Thailand expects to earn $64.50 billion in tourism revenues in 2023, according to government spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri.
As tourism, which is a key growth sector, is recovering after the COVID-19 pandemic, the Thai government has set goals for tourism to reach 80 percent of 2019 levels next year, he said.
International tourists are expected to bring $40 billion in 2023, and Thailand expects 1.5 million arrivals each month in the last quarter of 2022, he added, noting that September has seen more than one million tourists so far.
In 2019, Thailand, which has Southeast Asia's second-largest economy, saw arrivals of some 40 million visitors, who spent $51 billion.
