Alan Trejo's RBI single with one out in the 10th inning gave the Colorado Rockies a 4-3 win over the San Diego Padres on Friday night in Denver.
Randal Grichuk homered among his two hits, Yonathan Daza also had two hits and Daniel Bard (6-4) pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the win for Colorado. The Rockies (65-86) ended a four-game losing streak.
Juan Soto homered and finished with two hits for San Diego, which lost its second game in a row following a five-game winning streak.
The Padres (83-68) now lead the Milwaukee Brewers (81-70) by just two games in the race for the third and final National League wild-card position. San Diego is a half-game behind the Philadelphia Phillies (83-67).
San Diego squandered a chance to take the lead in the top of the 10th. Jose Azocar grounded into a fielder's choice to start the inning but made it to second on the play. Bard retired the next two batters to keep the game tied.
Padres reliever Adrian Morejon (4-1) got the first out of the bottom of the 10th, then intentionally walked Charlie Blackmon before Trejo lined a single to left to win it for the Rockies.
The game was scoreless into the third inning when both teams got on the board. In the top of the inning, Azocar and Jurickson Profar had consecutive singles to put runners on the corners with one out.
Azocar scored on a Soto groundout, and Manny Machado drove in Profar with another single to put San Diego ahead 2-0.
The Rockies got one back in the bottom of the inning when Grichuk led off with his 16th home run of the season.
Colorado took the lead in the fourth.
With two outs, Ezequiel Tovar singled to left, Sean Bouchard walked and both came home on a triple by Daza. That chased Padres starter Sean Manaea, who allowed three runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings.
Rockies starter Ryan Feltner left after allowing two runs on five hits in five innings. He was in line for the win until the eighth, when Soto homered to center off Carlos Estevez to tie it. It was Soto's 26th of the season.
