Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Matt Hennessy is undergoing neck surgery Tuesday and will likely begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed that Hennessy will have the procedure to repair a disc issue. There is no timetable for his return.
The Cowboys signed Hennessy, 28, to a one-year deal in March to provide depth at guard and center.
Hennessy played in all 17 games (two starts) for the San Francisco 49ers in 2025. He has appeared in 64 games (24 starts) with the Atlanta Falcons (2020-22, 2024) and 49ers (2024-25) since the Falcons drafted him in the third round in 2020 out of Temple.
