Wide receiver Tim Patrick was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who will send a sixth-round pick in the 2026 draft to the Detroit Lions in a swap reported by multiple outlets on Wednesday.
Patrick caught 33 passes and scored three TDs with the Lions last season after missing the previous two seasons in Denver with separate injuries. Third-round draft pick Isaac TeSlaa delivered a consistently strong training camp and preseason for Detroit and is likely to take over the role Patrick filled last season.
Patrick, 31, has played 71 career games with the Broncos and Lions with 176 receptions for 2,403 yards and 15 touchdowns. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens, Patrick also spent time on the San Francisco 49ers roster after being claimed off of waivers before finding a home with the Broncos.
Patrick and Dyami Brown become the frontrunners for a role in Jacksonville's three-WR sets as a complement to 2024 first-round pick Brian Thomas Jr. and 2025 first-rounder Travis Hunter.
To take Patrick's spot on the 53-man roster, the Lions agreed to a deal with safety Daniel Thomas, who was released by Jacksonville.
Thomas played in 15 games last season and was primarily a special teams player in five seasons with the Jaguars, appearing in 71 games and recording 71 total tackles.
Thomas, 27, was a fifth-round pick out of Auburn in 2020.
