Jess Fishlock broke a scoreless tie in the 90th minute and the host Seattle Reign defeated Racing Louisville 1-0 on Tuesday, completing a match that was suspended on Sunday when a player collapsed.
Shortly after Louisville's Jordyn Bloomer made a tough save off the crossbar, a teammate tried to make a backwards pass and was intercepted by Seattle forward Jordyn Huitema. She laid the ball off to Maddie Dahlien, who centered it to a wide-open Fishlock, and Fishlock tucked it in the bottom right corner for her fifth goal of the season.
Claudia Dickey made four saves for the Reign (8-6-6, 30 points), who are now part of a four-way tie for third place with Gotham FC, the Portland Thorns and the San Diego Wave. Bloomer had six saves for Racing Louisville (7-8-5, 26 points), who occupy the eighth and final playoff spot.
The match began Sunday evening but was suspended at halftime after Racing Louisville midfielder Savannah DeMelo had a medical emergency. She slowly took a seated position on the field while a teammate called for medical attention and appeared to faint soon after that.
The team said in a statement Monday that DeMelo was in good spirits and awaiting test results in a Seattle-area hospital. Earlier this year, DeMelo revealed she'd been diagnosed with Graves' disease, which causes hyperthyroidism.
